Sahara wedding party  

Up in northern Burkina Faso, at the edge the Sahara desert, we went to a wedding. A group of desert nomads that we met invited us to join the celebration. I was glad that I had my blue cotton headscarf to wear! It really helps breaks the ice if you can follow the local customs as much as possible. I had a great time trying to communicate with the other women there. While I speak French and Mooré, none of them spoke either of these languages. So, as you can see in the photo, we had to resort to lots of gestures!
