Mark Talley seeking work in Iraq, Afghanistan
Mark L. Talley / Cover Letter 1845 North Essex Circle Mesa, Arizona 85207 Cell/480–789–1902 Home/480–219–8058 Fax/480–219-3458 Email: mlt503@cox.net mlt503@yahoo.com July 12, 2009 To Whom It May Concern, I have always been curious about what makes machines and people tick. Machines were easy: I have always had the ability to take things apart and re-assemble them (usually with no parts left over) be it toys growing up, the many cars I would own and later landing in the semiconductor industry building, installing and troubleshooting multi- million dollar equipment around the world. People were a little harder to figure out, and while I may not have that part completely understood, what helped me the most is I always got pleasure out of helping someone. Whether it was jump-starting a dead battery on their car or networking half-way around the world to make a project more successful for my company and my customer. Dependability, team-player, honesty and a good dose of other true conservative values have guided my life – in public and privately as well. I have spent my adult life being true to those values, one time to the detriment of my employment. An actual life and death situation surfaced and I acted – a silent partner was embarrassed and politics caused us to go our separate ways. I can explain in greater detail privately but I wouldn’t hesitate to make the same call again. I'm a technician at heart, whether as an aviation machinist helping to design/contruct/install a pusher-propeller that would eventually fly on an Apache attack helicopter or restoring, from the ground up my 1972 Corvette Stingray. Part of my ability to understand how a machine works, take it apart with or without its manual and then put it back together in factory working order has to be credited to my father. I grew up looking over his shoulder as he added a front porch to our house, converted the attic into an apartment for my uncle and helped all my Italian relatives who had no other place to take their ailing cars. For the past 12 years I have sharpened my skills, getting industry training and using core values to move into management. My managing strategy is simple but effective: there’s a job or task to delegate, choose the employee best suited according to his skill-set, make sure his priorities are straight and let him work; no one likes to be micro- managed and I have other duties and responsibilities to attend to. I am in good shape (probably could outlast most 30-somethings in some sports), take care of myself and do not party. I have an excellent work-ethic, do not cause trouble and am extremely dependable. Give me a chance, you won’t be embarrassed! Thank you Mark L. Talley ******************************************** Mark L.
